Background

Ralsei is from the RPG game DELTARUNE created by indie developer, Toby Fox. Immediately after the game's release on October 31, 2018, fans had started to gain a liking to the creature. This led to the creation of the r/Ralsei subreddit, one of the inspirations to this project.

History

Ralsei Bot was created in 3 hours (starting at 1 PM to 4 PM, November 17, 2018 UTC) and deployed on the web hosting platform, Heroku. Since the release, the bot has received multiple updates, also known as "hotfixes" that give additional functionality and provides fixes to issues raised by the bot. It was registered to Discord Bots on November 21, and accepted on November 24, 2018.

On January 1, 2019, the new update for the bot was released which included overhauls on the entire bot, adding configurations, more conversation features, and utility links. More and more commands have been added over time. A rewrite was announced sometime in March 2019, but has so far been delayed multiple times due to time and priority constraints. Despite the issues, the bot is still periodically bugfixed to patch errors. Around December 2019, the bot has been moved onto an actual service, and on February, this website was moved from GitHub.io to this server. The move also provided the bot with more storage space.

Development went on hold for mutiple years while the developer worked on other projects. On March 7, 2021, v2.0 was released, which brought optimization and other improvements.
